“Then I suppose I should thank the Moon Goddess for saving me from a lifetime of misery,” I said evenly. “If that’s what being part of a ‘powerful pack’ looks like, I’ll gladly stay an outsider.”
My calmness threw her off balance. For a heartbeat, her perfect smile cracked.
“You’re not even angry?” she sneered. “I just stole your fiancé right in front of you.”
I waved a dismissive hand. “Angry? Hardly. If anything, I should be thanking you, Miss Emely. You saved me the trouble of explaining this disaster to Alpha Jordan.”
Whispers rippled through the room. A few pack members even stifled nervous laughter.
Her face darkened, composure shattering for the first time.
“You arrogant little mutt. You think I won’t have you torn apart for that tongue of yours?”
Her voice carried a faint growl, the air thickening with tension. But I didn’t flinch. My own wolf stirred within me, muscles tightening.
I smiled sweetly. “Relax, Miss Emely. No need to get your claws out so soon. Before I leave, I’d just like to make one quick call—to my grandfather.”
Without waiting for a response, I pulled out my phone and hit the familiar number, speaking loud enough for everyone to hear.
“Grandpa? It’s me—Diana.”
A warm, booming voice came through the speaker.
“Well, well, my darling granddaughter! Calling me on your wedding day, huh? So, have you met your future husband yet? What do you think?”
I looked directly at Alpha Logan, who shifted uncomfortably under my stare. Then I smiled.
“Yes, Grandpa. I’ve met him.”
I paused, then said clearly, “But I called to tell you—your future grandson-in-law has just been stolen by another woman.”
For a second, no one breathed.
Then, from the phone, came my grandfather’s furious roar.
“WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?!”
