“I shouldn’t have called you,” she admitted after a long pause. “You owe me nothing.”
He tightened his grip on the steering wheel, jaw flexing. “That’s where you’re wrong. You may have chosen him, but I never stopped watching. And I will never forgive him for what he’s done to you.”
Her chest tightened. His words cut through her walls, stirring something she wasn’t ready to name. Still, she forced herself to remain guarded.
“You talk as if revenge is simple,” she said. “Carson has the Stormclaw pack at his back. Alice has her family’s influence. Together, they’re untouchable.”
The man’s lips curved into a humorless smile. “No one is untouchable. Every fortress has cracks. Every alliance has weak links. What you need is information, strategy—and the courage to strike.”
Joanna’s pulse quickened. “And you can provide that?”
“I can,” he answered firmly. “But it’s not enough for me to fight alone. You have to stand beside me. No more silence. No more endurance. If you want freedom, if you want justice for yourself and your pup—you’ll need to take it.”
