At that moment, my heart turned to ash. If he had already chosen to discard me, then I would act first. I forced a bitter smile, pulled out my phone, and dialed my father.

“Dad, I’ve made up my mind. I’m leaving Carson. I’ll bring the pup back to Silverfang pack to live with you.”

“My brave girl,” my father’s voice came steady and strong. “Stormclaw pack may have wealth, but our Silverfang pack has pride. Don’t waste your life on a mate who dishonors you. Raise your pup where you are cherished.”

After hanging up, I booked the earliest flight home. My claws pricked my palms as I recalled this morning: I had asked Carson to accompany me for the check-up. He claimed he was busy with work. Yet here he was—at Alice’s side.
